Follow Me
Since I was a young boy I was interested in creating images, I would spend countless hours drawing and painting. I had a talent for capturing detail and became obsessed with a photo-realistic style, whether it was drawing an old running shoe for an art class project, self-portraits or anything to do with wildlife or nature. I will always remember an art teacher in elementary school telling me to “draw what you see not what you know”, this really resonated with me and influenced how I viewed the world, this approach to seeing evolved as I grew older into a mindset in which I wanted to create images which caused the viewer to see things in a different way through my use of perspective, composition, juxtaposition of subject matter, colour, pattern and light.
In my college and university years I pursued a degree in fine arts/design which exposed me to many forms of art and allowed me to branch out creatively into areas such as sculpture, lithography, design and of course photography.
My path to photography was not a direct one, when I finished university I went on to get a degree from a technical college in graphic design. The combination of skills that I acquired through school ended up landing me jobs in the agency world of marketing, design, and advertising.
Fast forward to a new chapter in my life and it is a renewed passion for capturing images with a camera. My aim is to find creative expression through my photography, at the moment it is portraiture but I will be expanding my repertoire over time into other genres of photography. Stay tuned…
